You want Sergio Llull on your team

A far cry from your prototypical European player, Sergio can do a little bit of everything.

PODCAST: Listen to Slam and Freaknick break down the Euro guards in this year’s NBA Draft.

Freaknick’s Forecast: When former NBA-er Raul Lopez went down in Week 4 of the Euroleague, Llull stepped in and led Madrid to a Top 16 bid  a 1-2 start.  Even when Lopez returned, Llull did more with less playing time and provided one highlight-worthy play after another.  He’s greased lightning on the break and if you don’t run with him he’ll just finish it himself.  For a player as flashy as Llull, you would expect it to come with some turnovers, but Llull only coughed up the pill 15 times in 20 Euroleague games, dropping 42 dimes along the way.  If it’s the middle of the  second round and I’m a GM, I’m calling Madrid to negotiate a buyout.

Slam Says: Another Spanish point guard, Llull is a long athletic guard with the ability to attack the basket and finish with authority.  He has a reliable three point jumper and has the experience of running one of the best teams in Europe.  Llull is very quick which makes for disruption in the opponents’ passing lanes and the ability to push the ball.
